2023年3月2日-2023年3月9日，意大利科学研究所运动神经元疾病果蝇模型实验室主任Andrea Daga教授来访南开大学生命科学学院并进行为期一周的教学和学术交流活动。

       2023年3月6日，Andrea Daga教授与近40名本科生开展交流研讨会，由张静研究员主持。Andrea Daga教授首先介绍了自己在欧洲和美国的工作经历，鼓励大家在科研中永远保持清醒、开放的头脑，随后回答了同学关于出国留学的问题，教授建议在考虑留学时应该先选择自己未来的方向，然后在这个方向里挑选合适的学校，再去选择导师。Andrea Daga教授回答了大家对他为什么选择生物的问题，他坦言自己其实对生物并没有热情，也不是自己生命中唯一要做的事情，他只是在当初那个年纪做了一个随机选择，并且坚持了下来，因此他告诉大家，这个年纪迷茫很正常，但是能够找到一个足够有趣的事情去做就已经迈出了一大步。

2023年3月8日，Andrea Daga教授与近30名研究生开展交流研讨会，由李磊教授主持。教授与同学们分享了自己从一名本科生，一步步成为优秀科研工作者的成长历程。也分别介绍了生物实验中理想的生物模型是如何选择、突变研究怎样从简单生物延伸至人体、DNA测序的目的和发展以及他对HIV治疗的看法和建议等问题。教授重点强调了科学实验中一定要敢于接受失败，并且保持头脑灵活，大胆延伸、合理推测，要注意新技术发展对科研的重要推动作用，鼓励大家关注多学科交叉发展，例如数学、物理、计算机等。

此次系列交流研讨会全程英语交流，气氛活跃，参加座谈会的同学们就学习经验、职业发展、科研方向等方面的疑问向Andrea Daga教授“取经”，教授一一耐心解答，并勉励同学们勇于创新，勇于实践，坚定自己对生物的选择，未来成为能贡献社会的人。

Andrea Daga教授简介：

       Dr. Andrea Daga is a professor of cell biology at the University of Padua, Italy. Dr. Daga studied biological sciences at the University of Padua and received his PhD in molecular and cell biology from the same university in 1991. He then went to the United States (California Institute of Technology and UCLA) to work as a postdoctoral fellow and start his academic career. In 2000, Dr. Daga returned to Italy where he became a Telethon Foundation Distinguished Scientist and Professor at the University of Padua. For the past 20 years, he has continued to work as a visiting professor with the UCLA Department of Neurology and as a visiting scientist with the Western Los Angeles Veteran Administration Medical Center. He uses Drosophila melanogaster (the fruit fly) to study the function and cell biology of genes homologous to human disease genes.
