Chancellor Wei Dapeng attended the Investigation Meeting on the Work of the Office for International Academic Exchanges 2017.07.16 Nankai University’s Chancellor Wei Dapeng, accompanied by Vice President Yan Chunhua, investigated the annual work of the Office for International Academic Exchanges on July 14th. The Director of the University Office participated in the meeting. The Director of Office for International Academic Exchanges made a report on general situation, problems, and future development of the office, including global mobility, joint cultivation programs, high-end visits, Confucius Institutes, and process of institutionalization. Chancellor Wei stressed that Nankai University highly values international exchanges. The university is committed to the realization of an international academic path, obtaining positive results. Under the new circumstances, Nankai University should carry on its traditional elements and actively serve the national strategies, including the Belt and Road Initiative and the Human Destiny Community, providing international support for the construction of a double first-rate university. Vice President Yan Chunhua pointed out that Nankai University’s internationalization is still facing many challenges, such as the lack of grass-root support and the flawed management system for overseas students. Therefore, the Office for International Academic Exchanges should consider foreign affairs as domestic affairs and promote the professional level.
